How to catch Runners as a Chaser

Choose where to meet the Runner, then commit. If you keep following the same path behind them, try cutting across their route.

Read the destination

The Runner is heading for the far safe area. Look at the space ahead as well as their current position.

Remember

Move toward where the Runner is going, then adjust when they turn.

Aim for the route ahead

Watch both the Runner and the safe area they are heading toward. Moving toward an interception point can create a shorter approach than tracing every turn behind them.

A Runner can change direction. If that happens, adjust the point you are moving toward instead of charging toward the place they used to be. The practice diagram shows this decision; it is not a map, hitbox or speed simulation.

Create an opening before you swing

Repeated swings can make it harder to notice a change of direction. First close the gap and watch for the Runner’s movement commitment. Then attempt the catch.

If a Runner escapes after a dash, ask whether you reacted too early or followed too far. Practise that decision before spending Gems on another ability. Exact timing and reach are not measured in this guide.

Pick a tool you can follow up

Rufus’s Leash brings a Runner closer; Big Dagger extends reach. Rocket Shoes helps close a gap, while Bowling Ball can interrupt a predictable route. Each still needs positioning and a follow-up.

Compare effects and prices before buying. Knife appearance alone is not evidence of improved reach or catch rate.

Review one chase

  • Where was the Runner trying to go?
  • Did you move toward that route or simply follow behind?
  • What made you commit: a visible dash, a turn, or a guess?
  • What will you change on the next attempt?

Frequently asked questions

Which Chaser ability should I buy first?

Bowling Ball has the lowest price in the 10 October report. If aiming a projectile is your weak point, compare it with Big Dagger or Rufus’s Leash before choosing. Current shop prices take priority.
